Consultation
An initial visit to establish your exact requirements and to give advice on the best way forward. One of the most important aspects of any bespoke design is the 'brief' detailing the client's requirements; this is covered as thoroughly as possible at this stage.
Site Survey and Analysis
Measuring your site, including levels and details of soil, plants and other features. The survey is usually the first stage towards the drawing-up of any plans.
Outline Design Proposal
An initial proposal is produced to give a clear idea of the intended design. This would give the opportunity to discuss ideas, resulting in a design tailor-made to your own preferences.
Detailed Plans
Layout Plan - Hard landscaping layout plan showing the dimensions for setting out and details of the materials to be used. This is usually the most important plan for a contractor to set out and accurately construct the garden ready for planting.
Planting Plan with Schedule - Detailing plant positions, quantities and associations, with a full schedule to include sizes of plants to order from the nursery and recommended planting distances. This may also be included as part of the Planting Service.
Comprehensive Presentation or 'Master' Plan - A detailed plan giving an overall view of the design; this plan may be coloured to give some idea of colour schemes, and is finished to a high artistic standard.
Perspective and Axonometric Drawings
Both perspective and accurate axonometric views of all or part of the garden can be prepared to give you a clear idea of the appearance of the design, particularly if you find plans difficult to interpret.
Specifications
Clear and accurate Specifications, Schedules and other relevant documentation will mean that contractors are able to implement the work exactly as designed. Construction detail drawings also give unambiguous information to both the client and the contractor.
Implementation
I can arrange for the construction of your new garden through recommended contractors. This may include planting as part of the contractor's work, or independently through my own Planting Service.
Project Management
Inspection and monitoring of the construction and planting can be arranged where a contractor has been employed, particularly if you have little available time to oversee this yourself.
Planting Service
Sourcing, procurement and planting - from individual borders to complete gardens. This may be offered as part of a full design scheme or as an independent service.
