Keith Pullan Profile
I initially studied Fine Art at Cardiff College of Art, gaining a Diploma in Art and Design in Sculpture, and subsequently qualified with an Art Teacher's Certificate at Goldsmith's College, London. During several years of teaching and working in both sculpture and painting, I exhibited work in the ICA Gallery, in the Tate Gallery, London as a Young Contemporary, and other galleries across England, in America and the Middle East. After returning to Yorkshire, I eventually decided to combine my creative skills with a passion for plants and gardening by training in Garden Design at Askham Bryan College, York.
Keith Pullan Garden Design was founded over twelve years ago; my background in Fine Art, Sculpture and Garden Design has provided a wealth of creative experience resulting in a successful, busy practice. During this time, I have completed over 250 projects, and gained RHS medals for show gardens in London, Birmingham and Harrogate, an RHS Cultural Commendation Certificate and a BBC Gardeners World Award. Examples of my plans are included in 'The Book of Garden Plans' (edited by Andrew Wilson; publ. Mitchell Beazley, 2004). I became a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers (MSGD) in 1996, and have continued my involvement in education with part-time lecturing and teaching on garden design courses, as well as attending regular courses myself to further my own experience.
All plans and details are hand drawn; this allows a more considered, creative and unconstrained approach in which the richness of detail contributes to an overall, unified scheme.
My philosophy is to provide a professional, innovative service tailored to the individual requirements of both client and site, and receptive to budget. My committment is to produce work of the highest quality.
